
About
Miki Bone has worked in professional and educational theatre for over 30 years and has earned a BA in Theatre with a minor in Management from Texas A&M University, studied period acting styles at the Royal National Theatre of Great Britain, and completed her educational credentials at Southern Methodist University. To enhance her writing and teaching credentials, in May 2014 Bone completed a graduate degree in Humanities with an emphasis in Aesthetics at the University of Texas at Dallas.
During Bone's graduate studies she began writing and developing her fourth play, Division Avenue. The play premiered in NYC at the Midtown International Theatre Festival July 15 – August 4, 2013 at the Abingdon Theatre Complex – June Havoc Theatre in NYC. On September 30th, the show swept the MITF 2013 Awards walking away with 9 top honors among the 62 productions featured in the festival: Best Play, Best Production, Best Direction, Best Leading Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Lead Actor, Best Ensemble, Best Sound Design and Best Marketing/Publicity. The show was also produced at Contemporary Theatre of Dallas in November – December 2013, and the J-Town Playhouse in Jerusalem, Israel February – March 2014.

Bone's professional producing and directing endeavors have been funded by the Texas Commission on the Arts, City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, TACA and The 500 Inc. Bone also served as the Managing Director of Contemporary Theatre of Dallas, a professional theatre company off Lower Greenville Avenue. Bone is a Lifetime Institutional Member of the Texas Educational Theatre Association.

While her acting experience predates her 26-year-old son, Bone has also appeared onstage with Austin Shakespeare Festival, Hyde Park Theatre, Austin 5th Street Theatre, Live Oak Theatre and the Paramount in Austin, Texas. In the Dallas–Ft. Worth area, she has appeared at Shakespeare Festival of Dallas, Dallas Theatre Center, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Pegasus Theatre, and Stage West.

Other theatrical/film adventures include: traveling with Hardin Simmons University students to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland to present Birds on A Wire in 2012; and to Los Angeles to direct a short film entitled Expecting, written by Michelle Weilert. Bone is married to Dallas attorney Tom Melsheimer.
